Yeah I saw that the health care bill passed. I was pretty ticked about it as well. Elder Crook and I were watching them vote on it with Brother Hill. He was yelling and fussing at the tv lol. That bill is so unconstitutional. But Joseph Smith did say the constitution would hang by a thread. Things here have been kind of crappy as well. Elder Crook and I have been basically contacting people for the last 2 weeks. We are just trying to fix this area up so it can get going again. Its just been hard cause people have been cancelling appointments left and right and things have just been going slow. We are trying our best though. Contacting people also hasn't been going the best because no one is ever home. O yeah Happy Birthday this week! Hopefully you will enjoy it. I miss the good old days of having people camping out in the backyard and the 20 people in the house.(Referring to Mark's annual spring break campout and Lindsay's birthday party.) Hopefully you will be able to sign your other clients. It stinks that the other client backed out at the last minute. Well I'll keep yall in my prayers and hopefully things will start to turn out better. Today has been kind of a boring day. I haven't really done a whole lot since we don't have very many miles for our car. We are going to have to start walking/ riding our bikes this week. Hopefully the weather will be nice. Well I'm gonna go. In moms email I told about some of the people I teach so I'm sure yall read each others.
Yeah I'm in a car now but we are running low on miles so we are gonna have to start biking or walking soon. This week has been kinda crummy. That health care bill passed and yesterday was just a bad day because no one was home and everyone cancelled their appointments which has been happening a lot lately. Our area is doing a lot better though than what it was when I first got here but it just seems like nothing seems to be going right. Hopefully it will start to get better. The only thing that happened that was interesting this week was Brother Hill took us to the mountains late at night to look at the stars. It was very pretty. We all saw a shooting star. We have been trying to setup appointments with a Burmese family and we need the translator there so we can teach them but he has been busy the past couple of weeks. We are also trying to get a hold of Dennis so we can setup an appointment with him. The work here has just been really hard to get going. Elder Crook and I have basically been going to peoples houses to contact them. Most of the time people are not home when we go over there. Its just been really frustrating. Are yall gonna send the camera charger and the memory card because I can't take pictures without them. Elder Crook is from Indiana and pretty much a country boy. We both get a long pretty well and seem to have stuff in common. He is fun to be around and hang out with. Sorry that I don't have a whole lot to write this week. I'll tell yall about some of the people that I teach. This family called the Burkes that we teach are pretty cool. We played Apples to Apples with them after the 1st lesson we taught them. They have 3 kids that aren't baptized but the parents are baptized but less active. One of their daughters plays basketball and volleyball and she is taller than me. She is probably like 6'2 or so. She looks like she is in college but she is only a sophomore in hs. There is this really nice guy who gave us $40 the other day. He gave us money because he stole from 2 missionaries when he was about 16 years old and he has always felt bad about it so he pulled us aside and told us and gave us the money. So Elder Crook and I went out to eat with it and then we each donated the rest of the money to the church. He is a really nice guy who was less active for a very long time. His conversion story is really good. He was an alcoholic and his wife that he married in the temple cheated on him so he started drinking. He said his kids always saw him drinking and smoking pot and he decided to change because he was being a bad example. So now he goes to the temple like almost everyday. He is a really nice guy. We also helped him clean the church on Saturday. I can't think of anything else that happened this week. Did yall do anything fun for Spring Break? Hows work been going for you? Well I'm gonna go for now. Yall have a good week. I might write more later today if I come back
Love
Elder Mattei
